One year cake smash and family photography

Parenthood. Everyone always says ‘enjoy it, time goes by so quickly’… but I do not think moms and dads understand how true that statement is until they experience it with their first child.

First birthdays are a celebration of not only your child’s birth, but a celebration of parenthood survival! 365 days! Seems like a big number, but, let’s face it, it’s really not. The first 90 days blur into one very long day due to sleep deprivation, and the realization that all the free time you thought you didn’t have, you really did have. Hopefully by three months, you’ll have some sort of sleep schedule, but it is sure to be interrupted by teething which leads to eating food by six months… and if you’re lucky, rolling and crawling by nine month. Before you know it, you’re cuddly baby is full of personality and walking right into toddlerhood.

Last weekend I got to spend time with this adorable little girl. Miss Laura has the most fun personality and greatest expressions. Her curiosity knew no bounds. For her first-year-session, we sang songs, shared lots of giggles and ran around her Grandma Kathi’s beautiful gardens. The joy and warmth of this family was amazing to witness.

And even though she didn’t want to eat her birthday cake, she made this session a piece of cake. Happy birthday, Miss Laura. You were a joy to be around.
